Our verdict
This is the print head that comes with the Snapmaker Artisan, sold on its own as a spare or replacement. TechRadar found print quality excellent in single and dual extrusion, and DIY Machines’ break-away support peeled off easily. Nozzle alignment is a manual calibration print, the left nozzle was harder to load, and an owner reports stringing with PVA. Buy it if your Artisan head is worn or damaged, not as an upgrade.
What we like
- Excellent single and dual print quality (TechRadar)
- Break-away supports pulled off easily (DIY Machines)
- 300°C nozzles; PLA, ABS, PETG, TPU, wood-fill and soluble
- Tool-less swap in seconds on the Artisan
- Supports 0.4 and 0.8 mm nozzles
What could be better
- Nozzle alignment set by manual calibration prints
- Left nozzle harder to load (DIY Machines)
- Stringing and uneven quality with PVA (owner report)
- Purge tower adds print time and waste
- Expensive as a spare at $399

What is it?
The Snapmaker Artisan comes with a dual-nozzle 3D printing head. This listing sells that head on its own, for $399, as a spare or replacement. It is not compatible with the Snapmaker 2.0.
What reviewers found
- TechRadar found print quality excellent in both single and dual extrusion on the Artisan.
- DIY Machines printed a spring-like pencil pot with severe overhangs and white break-away supports. There were some extrusion issues with the support material, but the print didn’t fail and supports pulled away easily. Nozzle alignment uses X/Y calibration prints where you pick the best-aligned lines by eye. The left nozzle was harder to load than the right, and the purge tower makes dual prints slower.
- 3DWithUs and Tom’s Hardware reviewed the Artisan with this head and praised quick tool changes.
- On Snapmaker’s forum, an Artisan owner reports a lot of stringing and uneven quality with PVA and support PLA, and says he only keeps using it because the Artisan has no single-nozzle option.
Who should not buy it
- Snapmaker 2.0 owners: buy the 2.0 dual extrusion module instead.
- Artisan owners with a working head: keep spare nozzles instead.
vs rivals
- vs Snapmaker 2.0 dual extrusion module ($259): a different head for the 2.0. See 2.0 vs Artisan dual extrusion.
Final thoughts
The Artisan dual head prints well once calibrated. As a $399 spare, buy it only when you need it.
